Privacy Policy

Look Closer is operated by Lyrids OÜ ("we", "our", "us"), Harju maakond, Tallinn, Lasnamäe linnaosa, Lasnamäe tn 4b-26, 11412, Estonia. This policy describes how we handle your information when you use the Look Closer mobile application.

1. Data collection

Look Closer does not require an account, email, or login to use. We do not collect personal information such as name, email address, or social profiles. Conversation content you choose to analyze is processed only during analysis and is not retained on our servers afterward.

Certain essential third-party service providers may collect limited technical data (such as anonymous device identifiers) strictly for core app functionality. These are described in sections 5, 6, and 8 below.

2. AI processing

Conversation content that you choose to analyze (screenshots or chat exports) is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections to AI service providers solely to generate your analysis. This content may include names, phone numbers, or other identifiers that appear in your original conversation. It is processed in real time and is not stored or retained on our servers after the response is produced. We do not use your conversation content to train AI models.

Primary AI Provider: Google Gemini

We use Google's Gemini API (accessed via a secure Supabase edge function proxy) for the majority of analysis requests, AI coaching, and image text recognition. Google does not retain your data or use it to train models per their API terms.

Fallback AI Provider: OpenAI

When the primary provider is temporarily unavailable due to rate limits or service issues, we automatically use OpenAI's API as a backup to ensure your analysis completes successfully. OpenAI does not retain or train on API data per their enterprise data policies.

Data Sent to AI Providers

  • Conversation text content (only when you initiate analysis)
  • Encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS

Data NOT Sent

  • Your name, email, or contact information
  • Your phone number or device identifiers
  • Media files (photos, videos, voice messages, documents)
  • Apple ID or payment information

This applies to both AI providers.

3. Local storage

Analysis results, coach sessions, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. Deleting the app or using Delete All Data in the app removes this local information.

4. App tracking & advertising (iOS)

On supported iOS versions, the app may request permission to use the device advertising identifier (IDFA) so our ad partner (Unity Ads) can deliver more relevant ads. You can allow or deny this in the system prompt and change your choice later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Rewarded ads may still appear if you decline; they may be less personalized.

5. Advertising

We use Unity Ads to show optional rewarded video ads for free-tier features. Ad partners may use device and ad identifiers subject to their policies and your device settings.

6. Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store. Apple handles all payment processing; we do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or billing address.

To manage subscription entitlements across sessions, we use RevenueCat as our subscription infrastructure provider. RevenueCat stores an anonymous purchase state and an anonymous user identifier tied to your Apple receipt - this is required to restore purchases and verify premium access. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or Apple ID.

Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Free trials automatically convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID Settings → Subscriptions.

7. Data retention

We do not operate a server-side archive of your conversations. AI providers may have their own technical retention; local results stay on your device until you delete them.

8. Analytics

We do not use third-party user analytics, behavioral tracking, or cross-app profiling services. However, we rely on essential service SDKs for core app functionality:

  • RevenueCat: subscription management and receipt validation
  • Unity Ads: rewarded advertisement delivery for free tier users
  • Google Gemini (via Supabase edge function): AI analysis

These services may collect anonymous device identifiers or technical diagnostic data required for their core functions. None of these services are used to track users for advertising profiling across other apps or websites.

9. Data deletion

You can delete all your data at any time from Settings → Delete All Data in the app. This removes analyses, coach sessions, and related local data from your device.

10. User consent

Look Closer is a self-reflection tool. You are responsible for ensuring you have appropriate consent or legal authority before analyzing any conversation.

11. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal data. Much of your data exists only on your device. Use in-app deletion and contact us for other requests at support@lookcloser.app.

12. Children's privacy

Look Closer is intended for users 17 years of age and older. The app is rated 17+ in the App Store due to mature themes that may appear in user-uploaded conversations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If you believe a child has used our service, please contact support@lookcloser.app and we will take appropriate action.

13. Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be reflected in the app and on this page.
